Exit sign
An exit sign is an illuminated sign that marks the way to an exit so people can find it in smoke or darkness.
OSHA requires that each exit be clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit." Many signs have a battery so they stay lit during a power loss. LED exit signs are now common.
Signs are part of a building's life safety system along with emergency lighting. Replacing or wiring a sign is a job for a licensed electrician. See commercial electrical maintenance and LED.
