Can I install a light fixture myself?
Swapping a bulb is fine. Wiring a fixture is not. CPSC says to check that every bulb matches the fixture's wattage rating, because a higher wattage can cause overheating. Work inside a junction box, a ceiling box or a fixture needs a licensed electrician. Call us for fans, chandeliers and anything that needs a ladder and wiring.
What indoor lighting can you install?
Daniel Electric hangs ceiling fans, chandeliers and over-island lights, and installs recessed lighting and dimmer switches. We also repair indoor lighting by checking the breaker, wiring, panel and surge protection. We can add TV, refrigerator and oven connections. Read the lighting installation and LED retrofit guide.
What outdoor and security lighting can you install?
We install landscape lighting, accent lights, flood lights and motion-detecting security lights for entries, garage doors and sliding doors. Outdoor outlets need GFCI protection. Pool and hot tub work has its own code rules, so a licensed electrician must do it.
Should I choose LED?
LEDs use less energy and last longer. DOE says they use at least 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and last 25 times longer. See LED lighting installation for retrofits and upgrades.
Do I need a permit for lighting?
Often not for a simple swap. Grapevine, for example, says replacing lamps is minor repair work that needs no permit. Adding new circuits or outdoor wiring can need one. Rules differ by city, so ask us. See the electrical permit entry and our service areas.
Yes. Daniel Electric installs and repairs lighting for businesses, including parking lots and building exteriors. Send the details with the quote form, or see the commercial electrician page for the full list of commercial services.
Can you install a ceiling fan where there is no fan box?
Often yes. The ceiling box may need to be changed to one rated for a fan. A licensed electrician should do that work. Call (817) 481-8606 and tell us about the room.
Do you install pool and hot tub lights?
Daniel Electric lists pool and hot tub electrical work, including lighting. These jobs have strict code rules for water and grounding, so a licensed electrician must do them. Call (817) 481-8606 and tell us what you have.
Are bulbs covered by the warranty?
Light bulbs are not covered by the parts warranty, with one exception: LED bulbs that Daniel Electric provides and installs are covered for 1 year. See our warranty page for the terms and limits.
