Service mast
A service mast is the rigid pipe that rises above the roofline to hold the overhead service wires at a safe height.
Oncor requires a service mast that supports the service drop to be at least 2 inch rigid steel, or 2.5 inch IMC, conduit with no coupling above the top clamp. It says EMT is not acceptable for a mast. The mast must be tall enough for the wires to meet minimum clearances.
The service drop attaches near the top, where a weatherhead keeps rain out. A leaning, rusted or torn mast is a hazard near live wires. Stay clear and call the utility and a licensed electrician. See electrical checks after a North Texas storm.
