Service upgrade
A service upgrade raises the amount of power a building can draw from the utility, usually with a new panel, meter base and service wires.
Upgrades often follow new loads such as an addition, a hot tub or an EV charger. Oncor says the utility gives a service availability statement. It names the meter location, the type of service and the capacity of the service to be provided. A load calculation shows what size the building needs.
The work touches the meter base, the electrical panel, a permit and utility coordination. A licensed electrician should handle all of it. See panel repair and replacement.
