Smart switch
A smart switch replaces a regular wall switch and adds wireless control, so lights respond to an app or a voice assistant.
Leviton says a smart switch lets you turn lights on and off with its app or a favorite voice assistant. Leviton also notes that some of its smart devices work in homes that may not have neutral wiring. Check this before you buy, because some brands need a neutral wire in the box.
Installing one means opening a live switch box, so use a licensed electrician. A smart dimmer switch adds brightness control. A three-way switch circuit needs a compatible companion. See lighting installation.
