Light pole
A light pole is the tall post that holds parking lot or street fixtures, with wiring inside and a power feed to the fixture.
The Department of Energy's FEMP covers outdoor pole and arm mounted area and roadway luminaires as a designated product category. A pole carries the fixture to a mounting height, holds the wiring and sits on a base. Power usually reaches it through buried or overhead supply wiring.
Pole lighting problems come from fixtures, photocells, ballasts or the supply wiring. Work near poles can involve high voltage and lifts. Leave it to a licensed electrician. See parking lot lighting repair.
