LED driver
An LED driver is the power supply inside an LED lamp or fixture that gives the LEDs the steady, controlled current they need.
LEDs need steady, controlled current, so most lamps and fixtures include a driver. The Department of Energy notes that, because of integrated ballasts or drivers, LED lamps are typically bigger than incandescent bulbs, especially near the base. A driver that fails can make an LED light flicker or go dark.
Dimming needs a compatible driver and dimmer. See ballast, the older part that does a similar job for fluorescent and HID lamps, and dimmer switch. Replacing a driver means opening a fixture, so use a licensed electrician. See LED lighting installation.
