# Master electrician

A master electrician holds the top individual electrician license in Texas, earned with years of supervised experience and an exam.

TDLR says that to apply for a master electrician license you must have held a journeyman electrician license for at least two years. You must also show 12,000 hours of on-the-job training under the supervision of a master electrician licensed in Texas.

Master electricians often serve as the responsible person for an electrical contractor and supervise others.
